Chris Brewster is one of the most dynamic and exciting martial artists in the country! He is a 13 time world champion and has black belts in Tang Soo Do, Tae Kwon Do, and Karate.  Chris has toured the world, performing all over Russia, Vienna, Poland, Hungary, and of course, the U.S.

Born in Nyack, NY, Chris began training at the age of 4, when his babysitter told him that karate was the coolest sport in the world.  His parents enrolled him in karate classes at the local YMCA, and he was hooked. After his first week of classes, Chris competed in his first karate tournament and won first place.  By 10, Chris was traveling across the U.S., competing in the PKL (professional karate league).  He won his first world championship in forms and fighting at 14, in Budapest, Hungary.

When Chris turned 16, he moved to Buffalo Grove, IL.  He wasn’t able to find a dojo that he could train at, so he spent two years training alone.  With self motivation, and support from his family and friends, Chris continued competing and won the 1999 World Championship in Bermuda.  One year later, Chris was invited to the Sharkey’s Karate Summer Camp.  This is where Chris met Matt Mullins, Craig Henningsen, and Jackson Spidell.  He knew immediately that Sharkey’s Karate is where he wanted to be.  “In order to be the best, you need to train with the best”, Chris said, “and Sensei Sharkey has trained dozens and dozens of amazing martial artists.” 

Under Sensei John Sharkey’s instruction and leadership, Chris competed under TEAM AKA along the NBL, WSKF, and NASKA karate circuits, winning world titles in just about every division.  

Now, Chris resides in California, touring the world with the rest of Sideswipe.  In addition to performing, Chris is busy doing stunts, shooting commercials, teaching seminars and private lessons, and “basically doing everything there is to do in the world of entertainment”
